Seoul International Drama Awards 2014 holds various preliminary events
 
-       ‘TV Movie Premiere & Celeb Cinema’, free screenings where the public can watch 6 selected global dramas at a movie theater and interact with the cast and crew
-       ‘Drama Music Concert’, a concert where fans can enjoy drama OSTs sung live by popular performers including Ulala Session
-       ‘Global Drama Forum’, a session for audiences to hear in-depth discussion from TV fiction experts about the meaning and roles of TV drama
 
 
The Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee announced the start of a variety of preliminary events in the first week of September, aimed at making the whole week a festive for drama lovers throughout the world. A series of big events are lined up including ‘TV Movie Premiere & Celeb Cinema’, ‘Drama Music Concert’, and ‘Global Drama Forum’. 6 selected drama entries from various countries will be premiered. Singers of original drama soundtracks will present performances at ‘Drama Music Concert’. Also, people will be able to hear an in-depth conversation amongst drama production professionals from around the world at ‘Global Drama Forum’. ‘Global Drama Forum’ and ‘Drama Music Concert’ in particular are hosted by the SDA Organizing Committee in association with BCWW2014 (Broadcast Worldwide). The two events will attract attention from both the drama industry and the general public.
 
 
TV Movie Premiere & Celeb Cinema
The SDA will hold ‘TV Movie Premiere & Celeb Cinema’ from September 1 to September 3 at Yeouido CGV. 6 dramas out of 209 entries this year representing each country – ‘The Walking Dead S4 (USA)’, ‘Sherlock S3 (UK)’, ‘An Affair (South Korea)’, ‘Good Doctor (South Korea)’, ‘Medcezir (Turkey)’, ‘The Fat & The Angry (Sweden)’- will be screened.
Çağatay Ulusoy (leading male actor from ‘Medcezir’), Christer Nilson (producer of ‘The Fat & The Angry’), and Min-soo Ki (director of ‘Good Doctor’) will be present at the screenings and have a Q&A with the audience. Participants can sign up through SDA’s website by August 26. Also, a drawing for invitation tickets to the Awards will be conducted on the day of the screening.
 
 
Drama Music Concert
Drama Music Concert, co-hosted by the SDA Organizing Committee and BCWW and organized by CBS, will be held on September 3 at 8:30pm at the COEX Auditorium. Popular singers including Ulala Session, Seung-woo Kim, and Wan-kyu Park will perform original drama soundtracks. Audiences can sign up to attend the concert through CBS’s official website(www.cbs.co.kr) or Kakaotalk.
 
 
Global Drama Forum
‘Global Drama Forum’ will be held on September 4 from 10:30am to 11:40am at the COEX Conference Room 307. The session will be held under the theme of ‘International s crip ted Formats in Television’ and address the meaning and implications of television. The discussions will touch on the global trend of recent drama storytelling, going into detail about the background process of how the US drama “The O.C. (2003~2004) was remade in to a Turkish drama, ‘Medcezir’. The speakers will also discuss the production direction of 3 Korean dramas including a SDA nominee ‘Good Doctor’ that have a higher chance of being formatted in other territories. The forum will be moderated by Michel Rodrigue, CEO of ‘The Format People’, international TV format consultancy. Marc Lorber (format consultant of Lionsgate and Fox), Donna Wiffen (senior drama consultant of Dutchess Street Productions), Ece Yörenç(Ay Yapim’s writer who wrote ‘Medcezir’), and Geon-sik Yu (Team Head of the KBS Drama Department) will participate as speakers of the forum.
The eight-month-long ‘The Seoul International Drama Awards 2014’ will come to a close at the awards ceremony which will be held in the National Theater of Korea on September 4. During the 120-minute long awards ceremony from 5:15 to 7:20pm, the final award winners will be announced, and televised live on SBS.
