Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee to Reveal the International Drama of the Year of Seoul Drama Awards 2021

 

- Japan's <Signal Special Episode> and Thailand's <I Told Sunset About You> are named in the selections

 

 

 

Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee (Chairman, Sung Jae Park) disclosed the International Drama of the Year selections of Seoul International Drama Awards 2021 (abbreviated SDA 2021 below). 

 

For the 16th awards, which will take place on 21 October, SDA 2021 selected ▲ Japanese drama <Signal Special Episode> and ▲ Thai drama <I Told Sunset About You> for selections of the International Drama of the Year, which selects and awards dramas of the world with international popularity and fame.

 

Japanese drama <Signal Special Episode> is a Japanese remake of the Korean drama <Signal>which aired in 2016 on tvN. It's a detective story that police investigators of today and past together running after unsolved cases again via short-wave radios radioed from the past. The drama drew enormous attention even before being televised as Japan's top actors - Sakaguchi Kentaro, Kichise Michiko and Kitamura Kazuki - starred in the work. It was favourably received not only in Japan but also in Korea, thanks to its story and atmosphere as well as the acting of the actors that are on par with that of the original.

 

Thai drama <I Told Sunset About You> is a teen drama of Teh and Oh-aew, who were the best friends quitted the relationship from petit misunderstanding, encounters at a Chinese language school and later anguish over friendship and love. The two main stars' meticulous and delicate acting and the sophisticated, peculiar direction of the director won the awards.

 

The 16th SDA will take place at the Open Hall of Sangam MBC on 21 October Thursday. The awards will be broadcast live on MBC. While the awards are being held from 20th Wednesday to 22nd Friday, 'Drama Street' will come available, a street of diversified programs - experience and exhibition zone, drama fashion class and drama reaction contest, at Sangam Culture Square. Meanwhile, an omnibus music show 'OST Concert' will be held at MBC Golden Mouth Hall on the 22nd to offer popular OSTs of Korean dramas that have been beloved and appreciated by fans around the world.
