Germany’s Babylon Berlin,
won Seoul International Drama Awards 2018 Grand Prize
- Germany sweeped a total of three awards this year: Grand Prize for Babylon Berlin; TV Movie Golden Bird Prize and Best Director for 54 Hours
- Korea’s tvN drama Mother’ won Golden Bird Prize for Mini-Series and Best Actress
- Japanese actor Ryohei Otani and Indonesian actress Tatjana Saphira Hartmann both won Asian Star Prize

3 September, 2018. Seoul, Korea. The Seoul International Drama Awards 2018 announced today the winner of this year’s SDA Grand Prize: Germany’s serial drama, Babylon Berlin.
Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee (Chairman Jeong Hoon Park) hosted this year’s award ceremony at the KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. The announcement of the final nominees from both competition and non-competition categories began at 7 pm. The non-competition category includes the Asian Star Prize, Outstanding Korean Drama Prize Category, and many other awards. The nominees are known to have survived both the preliminary and final slections.
At this year's Seoul International Drama Awards, a total of 268 entries from 56 different countries entered the competition, and this is the highest number yet. This year's festival is the 13th one hosted by the SDA. Hyun-mu Jun and Soo-young Choi were co-hosts of the ceremony while celebrities like Bo-yeong Lee, Seo-joon Park, Ji-ho Oh, Soo-jin Kyung, Chan-sung Hwang, and Sam Hammington also attended. Also, Geun-hyung Park, a famous, long-time actor made an appearance at the ceremony. Meanwhile, singers like Eric Nam and Red Velvet (group) performed their best on stage to add to the celebration. The awards ceremony is recorded on September 3 (Monday) the day of the actual awards, and will broadcast at 5 pm on September 4 (Tuesday) through SBS.
